Is Solar Energy the Ultimate Refuge?

Rohaankhan

The energy crisis is one of the greatest crises in the world today. This refers directly to the techniques of energy production and the materials required for it. Such resources are not only inefficient; they are among the major cause of pollution in the world.

As a developing country, Pakistan is trying to produce sustainable and low-priced energy, but it needs more than the current effort. One third of Pakistan’s population has no electricity available in rural areas, and there is around 6-8 hours of load shedding in almost every region of Pakistan. Pakistan has a shortage in conventional resources yet no progress has been made on renewable energy, such as wind and solar. Pakistan needs to have more and more electricity from low-cost resources, such as solar, wind and biomass, instead of relying on furnace oil, natural gas and diesel, which have been responsible for the so-called circular debt in the power sector in recent years and has become a drain on the national economy. Such sources are cost-free and produce fewer emissions than fossil fuels. Among them, wind and solar energy are taking the lead.

The generation of electricity by tidal energy is limited to the shores of the sea. Geothermal energy requires the extraction of heat from the Earth's surface, which has specific geographical limitations and environmental impacts. Wind turbines are capable of killing huge birds. So out of all renewable sources, solar energy is the best option.
