It's a difficult moment for so many of us. There's rage, discomfort, fear of injustice and inequality yet here we are not doing anything about it as its going back to decades as far as our world has existed.
We need to let our hearts be broken by the way in which minorities, especially Black people are treated in this world. Let our hearts be broken by the terror that they have to live with, the oppression that they have to suffer, the manner in which they are treated by everyone else, the manner in which they are put down, imprisoned, divided and spat on. They are considering villainized, criminalized and plunged into poverty... and then blamed for all that. Let our hearts be broken by how long this has been allowed to go on, how exhausted they have to feel. Now, let's finish this. Change is possible quicker than we usually believe, if there is a will there is a way.
We've been allowing this to go on for too long. And let's not be mistaken: we 're all guilty of that. It's all of us who are responsible, for pretending it isn't true, for denying it, for allowing our own prejudices and racism to go unchecked, for not calling out racism and injustice in our institutions and society, for not thinking about it, for not marching on it, for not demanding that change is require now. We all share equal responsibility. But let’s not get into finger pointing and blame. Point the finger at ourselves and let’s make it right.
Let's change the status quo here. Don't allow the police violence to continue. Don't encourage racism or discrimination in our institutions. Don't criminalize becoming a Black person or a refugee. Don't allow voices to be silenced. Do not encourage oppression. Don’t allow our political, economic, social, educational systems to be systems of oppression, but to become systems of positive change.
We have the power to do that. Let’s claim it.
