Studying in this era can be difficult, because of the increased distractions around us. These distractions include mainly social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.
Here are some techniques to overcome these distractions. Nowadays we’ve got a lot of work to get done using the internet, so there is a great chance for you to slip off into using social media, to avoid this there are some apps that block social media for a time limit and if u still use social media within that time period you are charged automatically. These include apps like “AppBlock” and “SelfControl” etc.
You also need to work on your focus because studying without focus won’t let you understand important concepts. To get increased focus you can use the “Pomodoro Technique”. In this, you study in particular study blocks and take consistent breaks. The best and most effective Pomodoro sessions are 25 minutes of study and 5 minutes of break. After 4 Pomodoro sessions, you can have a long break of 15 to 20 minutes.
Furthermore, we need to increase our retaining ability which can be achieved by the “Spaced Repetition Technique”. In this, you repeat and review a hard concept with increased intervals of time. For instance, if you study the concept 'A' on Monday and review it again on Tuesday. Then your next review session of concept 'A' should be longer than a day.
These techniques can be a bit difficult at the start to follow but with practice, we can easily get them working for ourselves.
